Saat ini video game atau game online menjadi salah satu hiburan yang di gemari oleh berbagai kalangan khususnya remaja. Menurut World Health Organization (WHO) batas usia remaja ialah 10-19 tahun, usia remaja ini rentan mengalami gangguan mental, salah satunya diakibatkan oleh game online.

Game online secara tidak langsung akan mempengaruhi pola pikir maupun perilaku pada diri seseorang. Julukan “Gaming Disorder” oleh WHO ini merupakan salah satu kategori dari masalah kesehatan mental. Gaming Disorder bisa diketahui dan dikenali gejalanya. Tentunya, remaja yang secara terus menerus bermain game online akan mengalami kecanduan game online.

Adapun tanda-tanda seseorang kecanduan game online menurut Edo S. Jaya, seorang Penulis dan Dosen di Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Indonesia, yaitu :

  1. Tidak bisa mengendalikan keinginan main game.
  2. Lebih memilih bermain game dan menjadikan game online sebagai prioritas ketimbang kegiatan lain.
  3. Terus bermain game online walaupun terdapat efek negatif yang jelas adanya/terlihat.

Dengan perkembangan yang pesat dalam game online, dan akses game online dengan mudah, maka beragam cara dapat dilakukan untuk dapat memainkannya dengan sajian yang juga sangat beragam. Keberagaman Inilah yang tentu akan memberikan dampak atau ancaman berbahaya bagi kesehatan mental remaja. Adapun 3 Ciri Pengaruh game online terhadap kesehatan mental remaja :

  1. Kecanduan Game online dan sulit berhenti bermain game.
  2. Adanya gejala halusinasi,
  3. Manajemen waktu yang berantakan.
  4. Perubahan perilaku menjadi individualis, mudah marah, maupun yang lainnya,

Maka dari itu, kecanduan dari bermain game akan menghabiskan waktu remaja untuk bersosialisasi dengan linkungan sekitar sehingga para remaja akan kehilangan waktu berharga di dunia nyatanya. Mereka akan sulit membedakan antara dunia nyata dan dunia maya dengan pola pikir yang sudah terpengaruhi oleh game yang mereka mainkan. (bbs)
